    This was so helpful. It always made me anxious whenever I would hear the sirens, I never know which side to go. If we’re supposed to go to the right side of the road, what do we do if the ambulance wants to make a right too? This happened to me on the road. The ambulance was behind me and needed to make a right onto the highway but I was making a right with it😅, so the only thing that made sense was to go to the left…is this right?

    Great idea, but will not work with selfish children. When you spend 20 minutes crawling forward in a construction zone, and some P.C.B. sprints his way through a 1/4 mile of obvious merge area, and just intends to shove his way in front of you! Grow up. You had a half mile of obvious warning. And your only thought was that you are so special, that you should just get in front of everyone else.

    for me the traffic system in the USA is dumb AF LOL. like this scenario, when the left turn light is green, the middle lane in front of you should be stop or red, and the the 3rd or 4th lane in front of you can turn or go the opposite way, and all four right turns near the curb side can all go with caution, this way can prevent or lessen accident. That is why USA is the most prone accident in the world because of that dumb traffic system or whatever

    The big problem here is that these demonstrations are always in a (likely mythical, at the very least highly unlikely) scenario where the flow after the bottleneck is equal to or even faster than the flow before the bottleneck. If that's the case then there's no problem yeah, but that's so rarely the case. Typically these bottlenecks are for construction or a crash where speed will be reduced. Just imagine the cars after the bottleneck stopping, because even if they don't stop and just slow, eventually the line will flow back to the bottleneck point anyways and so the result is the same. Then, you're stuck with lines of cars before the bottleneck not moving, and having to rely on people to take turns, which would be great if every driver on the road were friendly and nice ... Was every driver on the road friendly and nice the last time you were on the road? All these dumb demonstrations assume (example numbers) 96 cars passing any point per minute before the bottleneck and at least 96 cars if not more passing any point after the bottleneck. In reality, the number of cars passing any point after the bottleneck is almost always lower than the number of cars passing any point before the bottleneck, until the problem eventually grows to the point where there are cars stopped before the bottleneck point, which really means the bottleneck point should have been placed further back.

    In the last situation, what if there’s heavy traffic and I’m already out in the middle of the intersection waiting to make my left turn, with too many on coming cars, my light has went from green to red, if I still proceed to make the left turn, will it count as running a red light ?

    • @nswtrains3153
      @nswtrains3153 12 дней назад

      If the light goes red then proceed when there is no oncoming traffic and then the cars that get a green light won’t honk because they would understand, happens a lot and it’s all good

    Ever since I saw one of these simulations I’ve been going to the end and it’s worked every single time. In Atlanta the traffic is some of the worst in the country. I often think people must be a bit irritated when they see me drive past a long lane of traffic knowing my lane is going to run out but I always get let in at the end and I never go back to interview the other drivers to see if they cared.

      Pardon you? Traffic circles are awful and roundabouts are safer, these accidents barely happen but ( I know this is a different topic) I saw some driver in Australia (where I live) turn right on a green arrow and didn’t indicate, then later turn on the left Turn with care lane and he again didn’t use an indicator and turned before the lane started!

    I guess I always violate the only one car in the intersection rule as I always go in and see everyone else as well. Often it is the only way to turn when the light finally changes. I really hate it when a driver in front does not proceed into the road at all and will not turn for possibly several light cycles. I have even gone around such a driver only for them to start honking at me. Left turns suck.

  • @psychurch
    @psychurch Месяц назад

    Hold up, who came up with this?? when the road narrows and allows only one car at a time, the only thing dictating a throughput rate is how fast each car is going. When we see a merge sign the traffic is moving at a good speed while being more loose and easier to merge potentially allowing everyone to maintain a higher speed. Zip merge on the other hand forces everyone to slow down in order to be able to merge at the very end, how the heck is the throughput of 10 mph better than everyone moving in one line at 40-50mph?? The only time zip merge would be beneficial is if the stretch of the road is in the city spanning an intersection.
